Painted to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Carlisle Citadel station, this work features a complex series of subdivisions based on the Golden Section in which appear locomotives, company coats of arms of the original seven railways that operated from the station and people from throughout its lifespan.

It was one of the central exhibits at the city's Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery in the 'Making Tracks' exhibition held as part of the celebrations in 1997, where it featured alongside paintings by Terence Cuneo and photographs by Eric Treacy.
