The Lake District

The Cumbrian Lake District was one of the world's earliest tourist destinations , its special magic brought to the world's attention by Wordsworth and the Romantic poets.

It was also s ingled out by one of the greatest and most influential thinkers of the Victorian age - John Ruskin- as a fit place to live to let his thoughts roam freely over the higher things in life- art, civilisation and the bettering of the human condition.

It has its own mountain micro-climate that can include extremes- dense mists, heavy rains and dazzling sunshine between speeding clouds that drapes moving shadows over the hillsides and lakes.
