This work was requested by Manser Callaghan Fine Art in Shrewsbury and featured in their ' 20th Century Artists' exhibition alongside works by Augustus John and L.S. Lowry.

With a similar compositional format to the Glasgow painting, it is an exploration of the deep relationship that people from all walks of life in the industrial North of England have had with the Cumbrian Lake District - home of Wordsworth and Ruskin and one of the original Romantic era tourist destinations. With the grandeur of its sheer scale and its dramatic atmosphere it was a place to get away from their hard, relentless working lives to revitalise their soul.

From the early 19th century onwards they got there using a variety of modes of transport - railways, coaches, cycles and motorcycles.
