"In time I packed my
cardboard suitcase
Put it on a train,
Tied a little label to my days,
Didn't look back over shoulder, felt no loss along the way And went to find the things that would amaze..."

This is a painting about leaving Accrington in 1969 to discover a whole new way of living.

The different sections also show the locomotive at different times in its history and the train at other points on its journey. There is also a reference to another departure from ths station - that of the Accrington Pals in WW1 - the subject of another painting 'Smile Boys thats's the Style'
